Magic Square Pavilion
This exhibit is based on the intention of traditional coexistence between nature, all things, and humans, with reference to the Hetu Luoshu, which is the origin of Chinese culture. The space is divided into nine grids, with the east, south, west, and north directions representing odd numbers and belonging to yang, while the four corners are filled with even numbers representing yin. The central grid is left empty, representing the number five. The roof also rotates in different directions according to the celestial phenomena represented by the Hetu Luoshu. When looking up inside the room, the narrow window on the roof directs the line of sight to the deep space, where the insignificance of the individual and the vastness of the universe blend together. |
